Project Description

To support FirstEnergy’s commitment to hiring innovative and diverse talent, the company established the FirstEnergy Ambassador Network (FAN), a program designed to leverage employees’ enthusiasm and affiliations to develop a sustainable and diverse talent pipeline.

Through the program, employee volunteers create partnerships with key community, professional, and academic organizations within FirstEnergy’s five-state footprint. They build relationships and participate in outreach events to promote the company as an employer of choice and expose youth and job seekers to the opportunities available at FirstEnergy. The program also gives employees meaningful opportunities to give back to their schools, professional organizations, or other groups that have made a difference in their careers.

These dedicated employees can speak about what makes FirstEnergy a great place to work – from a comprehensive benefits program to work/life balance, the exciting job opportunities that are available, as well as the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Employees also can share their own career experiences and general life skills.

In 2023, the FirstEnergy Ambassador Network participated in 30 career fairs and four national conferences.  Several of the talent streams focus on increasing the diversity within our talent pipelines, including teams focused on HBCUs, Veterans, women engineers, and racially/ethnically diverse organizations like the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers and the National Society of Black Engineers. The program also promotes internships, co-ops, and our line worker Apprenticeship Program.

With more than 460 employee volunteers from across the company, success is driven by using traditional and non-traditional programming to drive fulfilling engagements for both employees and external partners. FAN has reimagined how FirstEnergy recruits talent and partners with talent streams such as colleges, universities, local school districts, community organizations, and professional organizations.
