Demonstrating Clean Energy Leadership During National Clean Energy Week and Climate Week NYC
This week is National Clean Energy Week (NCEW), and EEI is highlighting our member companies' commitment to delivering resilient clean energy across the economy. EEI is a premier sponsor of National Clean Energy Week, and its Policymakers Symposium will take place in Washington, D.C., September 23-27. On September 25, EEI President and CEO Dan Brouillette will join a panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges for clean energy investment and development. EEI Chair Maria Pope, president and CEO of Portland General Electric, also will deliver remarks to attendees. Learn more and register for free at https://nationalcleanenergyweek.org.
EEI is co-sponsoring multiple Climate Week NYC events from September 23-29. EEI Vice Chair Calvin Butler, president and CEO of Exelon Corporation; Andrés Gluski, president and CEO of The AES Corporation; Rebecca Kujawa, president and CEO of NextEra Energy Resources; Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International; and many more EEI member company executives will showcase our clean energy leadership through discussions on clean energy deployment, investments, grid resilience, new technologies, and more. Today, carbon emissions from the U.S. electric power sector are as low as they were nearly 50 years ago, while electricity use has more than doubled since then. Thanks in part to the significant investments that EEI’s member companies have made in clean energy, more than 40 percent of all U.S. power generation comes from clean, carbon-free sources, including nuclear energy, hydropower, wind, and solar energy.
