EEI Applauds Congress for Passing the Fiscal Responsibility Act

WASHINGTON (June 01, 2023) — Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President of Public Policy and External Affairs Brian Wolff today issued the following statement:

“EEI and our member companies commend Congress for passing the bipartisan Fiscal Responsibility Act. The siting and permitting elements of the package make important improvements that will help to expedite the process for building new—and updating existing—energy infrastructure while still meeting environmental requirements. A clear, transparent, and efficient permitting process is essential to delivering resilient clean energy across our nation’s economy. 

“We look forward to President Biden signing these impactful siting and permitting reforms into law, and we will continue to work with Congress as lawmakers evaluate the siting and permitting proposals that were not included in the final agreement.”
