LAS VEGAS (June 03, 2026) — David Campbell, chairman and CEO of Kansas City, Mo.-based Evergy, today was elected chair of the board of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the national association of investor-owned electric companies. Drew Marsh, chair and CEO of New Orleans-based Entergy, and Chris Womack, chairman, president, and CEO of Atlanta-based Southern Company, were elected vice chairs.
EEI’s Board elected Campbell, Marsh, and Womack during the institute’s annual meeting, EEI 2026. EEI’s chair rotates on an annual basis. Campbell succeeds Calvin Butler, president and CEO of Chicago-based Exelon.
“EEI and our member electric companies are grateful to Calvin Butler for his steadfast leadership as EEI chair and his focus on serving customers,” said EEI President and CEO Drew Maloney. “This is a pivotal moment for America’s energy future, and we appreciate Calvin’s ability to bring electric companies, policymakers, and local leaders together to strengthen America’s energy grid, our economy, and our communities.”
“We are proud to announce that David Campbell was elected EEI Chair for the 2026-2027 cycle,” added Maloney. “David is leading important conversations around customer affordability, infrastructure investment, and meeting rising electricity demand. His leadership will serve us well as we work together to deliver the energy of every day.”
“The electricity industry is evolving rapidly as we work to build a stronger, more resilient energy future for all Americans,” said Campbell, who most recently served as an EEI vice chair. “I look forward to working with EEI and its member companies to advance the policies and partnerships needed to strengthen the grid, support economic growth, and continue to deliver reliable, affordable energy to the customers and communities we serve for generations to come.”
Campbell joined Evergy in January 2021 as president and CEO and, in May 2024, became chairman and CEO. Under Campbell’s leadership, Evergy provides safe, affordable, and reliable service to its 1.7 million electric customers in Kansas and Missouri.
Marsh is the chair and CEO of Entergy, an integrated energy company that delivers electricity to more than 3 million customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Under Marsh’s leadership, Entergy is focused on customer-driven energy solutions that produce reliability, resilience, and sustainability while maintaining customer affordability.
Womack joined Southern Company in 1988 and was named CEO in January 2023. Southern Company is a leading energy provider serving 9 million electric and natural gas customers and businesses in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Virginia. Under his leadership, Southern Company is navigating a pivotal era—delivering the energy solutions customers and communities need for today and tomorrow.
